Flagstaff host Dispute Resolution Board Foundation Advanced Training Course
Flagstaff were delighted to host a DRBF Advanced Training Course in Brisbane on 07 April 2017. Attended by over 25 senior industry professionals from both Flagstaff, Owners, Major Contractors, Legal and Advisory firms, the course dealt with the establishment and operation of Dispute Boards on major projects and equipped participants with the following:
Appreciation of the benefits of using dispute boards
Increased understanding about how dispute boards work in practice
Skills to serve as members of dispute boards
Assist in understanding the role and responsibility of a dispute board member
Learn from experiences of those who have served on dispute boards
The training was skilfully facilitated by experienced dispute board practitioners Graham Easton and Alan McLennan.
Graham is a civil engineer and lawyer based in Sydney, Australia. He works throughout Australasia and S.E. Asia as an independent arbitrator, court referee, mediator and DRB member.
Alan heads a consultancy focussing on all stages of infrastructure projects including project initiation, planning and delivery. He is a civil engineer who practised mainly in the roads and transport arena, and has held positions such as Chief Engineer and General Manager in the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads. A significant part of Alan’s career involved contract administration and dispute resolution. He has extensive hands-on experience in collaborative and relationship contracting.
Graham and Alan were assisted by Dispute Board Members Derek Skinner and Flagstaff’s own Ric Barton, whom provided valuable insights and scenario’s that augmented the training.
