Project Description:
Following Flagstaff support in 2001 in providing an independent review of a refurbishment project which had experienced difficulties and aggravation between various parties engaged through the delivery of the project, the team was re-engaged to provide project delivery services.
This assignment included technical advice, systems management and project delivery services for a state of the art conference and convention facility in the new Melbourne Convention Centre, including a 5,500 seat Plenary Hall, business centre services, banquet room, meeting rooms and conference facilities, the largest commercial kitchen in the southern hemisphere, upgrading and refurbishment of the adjacent Duke and Orr Dock housing the Polly Woodside and integration with the existing Melbourne Exhibition Centre.

The Challenge:
- Site early works required demolition and rehabilitation from previous industrial use / contamination including asbestos, PCB’s, lead paint, mould spores, oil and petrochemicals
- Alignment of owner and operator requirements in the build process, ensuring a functional operating environment
The Outcome:
Development and implementation of design review and approvals for the operator and the owner
Approval systems for the acquisition of audio visual and communication equipment
Operational readiness testing, scenario evaluation, emergency and incident tests
